Red Rock Rendezvous 2016 – Part II: Sunday

Missed Part I? Read it here.

Sunday of RRR started out as you’d expect. I slept in until 9am and realized that almost everyone had already left to go climbing already. Waking up late also ensured that there was almost no breakfast left downstairs. Good news is, our hotel was right across the street from the new Harry Potter themed coffee shop, Bad Owl Coffee!

By the time we found our friends at Calico Basin, it was already time for us to take our clinic: Learn to Trad Lead. It was being held at Moderate Mecca, which is in the same area as where our friends were, so we didn’t have to drive anywhere.

Our Trad Lead clinic was so much fun! Definitely worth the extra we paid for it and more. I actually feel like I should have done 2 days of Trad Lead instead of 1 day because the 4 hours of clinic time was not nearly enough to go over everything. They need this class to be at least 1-2 whole days. But anyways, now I’m psyched about learning trad climbing!!

By the time our class was finished, our whole group had already finished bouldering and gone home. We waited out the traffic by going back to the Rendezvous for a bit and then getting All-You-Can-Eat sushi.  We even met Alex Johnson (another pro climber) in the parking lot of Calico Basin!

So yeah, we didn’t even leave Vegas until 9:30pm so we didn’t get home until almost 2am. Still had work today… but worth it!
